Gog Lily

        Gog LILY

: The Dr. Sam Motsuenyane Foundation has been actively involved in supporting various projects, with one of its flagship initiatives being the assistance provided to Gog Lilly, initially known as Bontle Le Temo. The foundation has played a crucial role in nurturing and developing this project from its inception.

Project Timeline:

  1. Initial Support: Gog Lilly, formerly Bontle Le Temo, has been a recipient of the foundation’s support since its establishment.

  2. International Training in India: The foundation facilitated the training of five youth from Gog Lilly in Hyderabad, ICRISAT, to learn the entire process of nut production, from cultivation to table.

  3. Cooperative Establishment: Upon the return of the trained individuals, Bontle Le Temo was registered as a cooperative.

  4. ESKOM Foundation Donation: The ESKOM Foundation generously donated R1,023,000.00 to Bontle Le Temo. This fund was specifically allocated for the purchase of planting and agro-processing equipment.

  5. Challenges and Changes: Unfortunately, Bontle Le Temo faced challenges as members resigned and pursued different career opportunities, resulting in the cooperative’s deregistration. Miss Thato Mabonela remained and underwent specialized training in nut agro-processing.

  6. Gog Lilly Peanut Butter Registration: Under the leadership of Miss Thato Mabonela, Gog Lilly Peanut Butter was registered, signaling a new phase in the project’s journey.

  7. Partnership with Tshwane South TVET College (TSC): Currently, Gog Lilly operates from Tshwane South TVET College premises through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Foundation and TSC.

  8. Entrepreneurial Grant and Incubation: Gog Lilly received a grant of R80,000.00 from the foundation through its Entrepreneurial Grant program. The project is currently undergoing incubation under the guidance of Family Tree.

  9. Market Challenges: Gog Lilly is currently facing challenges in the market. The specific nature of these challenges needs further investigation to develop targeted strategies for overcoming them.

Despite facing challenges and changes, Gog Lilly has demonstrated resilience and progress. The foundation’s ongoing support, coupled with collaborations with institutions like Tshwane South TVET College and Family Tree, is essential for the continued growth and success of Gog Lilly Peanut Butter. Addressing the current market challenges will be a priority to ensure sustainability and long-term viability.
