Karate Sensation and Farmer, Mr. Mncedisi Zwane

The Dr. Sam Motsuenyane Foundation was a proud sponsor of Mr. Mncedisi Zwane, a Shinkyokushinkai Karate sensation and farmer from Dannhauser, KwaZulu Natal. The sponsorship was aimed at supporting Mr. Zwane’s participation in the Karate World Cup 2023 in Japan.
Mr. Mncedisi Zwane has been a prominent figure in the Shinkyokushinkai Karate community, achieving success in various regional and national competitions since 2014. His dedication and talent have earned him eight national nominations, with two participations in global karate competitions.
Competition History:
⦁ In 2014, Mr. Zwane’s journey began with a victory in a regional karate competition in Matlosana, sparking his passion for the sport.
⦁ Notably, he secured third place in the African Selection Cup in 2015, earning him a spot as a reserve fighter.
⦁ The highlight of 2016 was winning the All Africa Tournament in Durban, leading to his selection to represent South Africa at the 6th World Championship in Kazakhstan for the Middle Weighted.
⦁ Despite facing financial constraints, Mr. Zwane received nominations to participate in the 2019 Japan World Cup and the Kazakhstan WKU Championship, but was unable to join due to lack of funding.
⦁ In 2020, he qualified for the Olympics but couldn’t compete as full contact was not part of the competition.
⦁ In 2022, Mr. Zwane secured second place in the National Selection Championship, earning a spot in Team SA for the Poland competition. Unfortunately, lack of funding prevented his participation.
⦁ The turning point came in 2023 when he participated in the National Selection Competition in Durban, securing a spot in the Karate team representing South Africa at the Karate World Cup 2023 in Japan.
Preparation for Karate World Cup: To ensure Mr. Zwane’s optimal performance, the foundation sponsored his preparation for the National Karate Tournament at Tshwane University of Technology. Additionally, he underwent intensive training with his former teammates and Sanseis in Soshanguve for two weeks, leveraging their deep understanding of his strengths and weaknesses.
Foundation’s Contribution: The Dr. Sam Motsuenyane Foundation proudly sponsored Mr. Mncedisi Zwane with a total amount of R50,000. This support covered various aspects, including training, clothing, flight tickets, fighting fees, visa expenses, travel, food, and accommodation.
