Empowering Women and Communities – 5th Dr. Sam Motsuenyane Annual Lecture with Gloria Serobe

The Dr. Sam Motsuenyane Foundation proudly hosted the 5th Annual Dr. Sam Motsuenyane Lecture in 2022, continuing its mission of celebrating the life, values, and vision of its late Patron. The event featured keynote speaker Mrs. Gloria Serobe, a pioneering South African businesswoman and champion of women’s economic empowerment.

In her address, Mrs. Serobe focused on the empowerment of women and the importance of rural development. She highlighted how women in rural areas are not only central to household stability but are also key drivers of community development and economic growth. She emphasized that genuine transformation in South Africa cannot be achieved without deliberate investment in rural communities and meaningful inclusion of women in leadership roles.

Mrs. Serobe also paid tribute to Dr. Sam Motsuenyane’s enduring legacy, recalling his tireless efforts to uplift marginalized communities and to expand opportunities for Black businesses. She reminded the audience that his vision of economic self-reliance remains as relevant today as ever, particularly in addressing persistent inequalities.

The 5th Annual Lecture served as both a reflection on Dr. Motsuenyane’s lifelong contributions and a call to action for inclusive policies and investment strategies that empower women and rural communities. It reaffirmed the Foundation’s mission of building sustainable economic growth rooted in dignity, self-reliance, and opportunity.
